iPhone 5 “Scratch-Test” (Featuring My Toddler)

Curious to know how scuffed-up the iPhone 5 will get over time? Ever wanted to watch a toddler smash an iPhone with some keys? Today is your lucky day. Me and Ellie performed some highly scientific experiments on it today at iFixit, and at the very least, I think you all will get a kick out of it. Enjoy!

Is this not simultaneously adorable and terrifying thing you’ve ever seen? We had a lot of fun making it. 🙂

Let’s be friends!

Omg. This is just so much cute! I’ve been emailing it to all my friends.

    Sent from my iPod

  2. First: Ellie is brilliant and adorable. 🙂
Second: I have the 4 and have kept it in an Otterbox for almost the whole time I’ve had it. I don’t love the fact that I can’t enjoy the beauty of the phone (because let’s face it, it’s just really pretty), but I DO love that I haven’t had to replace the screen or the back like my siblings have all had to do so. I understand that it’s obnoxious for a phone to be so breakable, but I’ve kind of come to expect it and have praised Jesus for the case every time I’ve dropped my phone in a parking lot. 🙂
I’m wondering though: Why are people so surprised, and then frustrated, that a small computer (since that’s basically what an iPhone is) can get damaged with normal, daily use?

Hey MJ, I would like to acknowledge you as a mother. The way you handle your 2 year-old daughter is wonderful to see. In your communication, you are always acknowledging her – as every parent should, in my opinion. It was really a pleasure to see the video from this (parent) viewpoint. Congratulations, you are a great Mom!

    • Thank you so much! It was such a pleasure to have her next to me for once. And oh my gosh, she had such a good time. She’ll be making her own videos before I know it! Thanks again. 🙂

Sorry MJ Ellie definitely stole the show – so cute (wish my 5 yr old was this good). Still have my i5 in the box awaiting cases – does spoil the look / feel but for how many times it gets dropped or knocked by keys a must. Great vid and keep up the work.
